Ashtanga Yoga is one of the more popular styles of yoga and was introduced by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in 1975. This vinyasa-style class begins with sun salutations, continues with a series of standing poses done on each side, and finishes with a set of inversions and seated poses. This method of yoga involves synchronising the breath with a progressive series of postures—a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.
Ashtanga Yoga is for people who like a challenging and highly structured practice. Sequences are predefined based on your personal level. The poses are done in a constant flow and at your own pace.
